New York City has always prided itself for being a main contributor to the start of Rock N' Roll. The Alan Freed Shows at the Brooklyn Paramount and Fox Theaters, and how about all those fantastic vocal groups that came out of New York City The Paragons and the Jesters, Larry Chance and the Earls, Solitaires, The Chords, The Dubs, I could go on forever. We still think this is one of the most inventive eras of Rock and Roll. It didn't cost anything to find your friends, sing and who knows? You might end up with a recording contract at the Brill Building. Many of us still feel the thrill of creating harmony and singing our favorite records we bought whether at Time Square Records with Slim or the closest record shop (Every neighborhood had one) with our lunch money, allowances or cashing in soda bottles to save up at the end of the week to buy  that record we heard on the Night Train Show with Alan Fredricks.

I'll be hosting once a month along with Jackie Nunez of Gotham Talk Radio a Sunday Doowop Event from 12 Noon till 4 PM at the famous Neirs' Tavern 87-48 78th St. in Woodhaven, NY. All are welcome to sing, form a group, bring your group, you might wanna try out some new songs and see how they'll fly with the crowd, If you wanna DJ you can do that too. We all support each other. Lots of special guests each month (you don't know who'll show up. It's a comfortable spot with a great menu if you'd like to eat. Out of towners  if you're in the New York area stop by for some friendly conversation talk bout record collectibg, your latest finds and listen to a lost art that we still preserve.
